Front Air Bag Sensor

Front air bag sensor, is located on upper radiator support next to hood latch. Sensor reacts to impacts according to direction and force. It discriminates between an impact that requires air bag deployment and an impact that does not.

When an impact occurs above a predetermined threshold, impact sensor contacts close, completing electrical circuit necessary for system operation. At least 2 sensors, safing sensor and front air bag sensor, must be activated simultaneously to deploy air bags. Safing sensor is integral with RCM.
