Test G: No Operation In Some Blower Settings

  1. Turn ignition on. Press MAX A/C button on EATC control panel. Rotate blower thumbwheel midway between high and low settings. If blower motor operates properly, rotate thumbwheel to high and verify blower speed increases to high. If blower speed increases with thumbwheel rotation, system is operating normally. If blower speed does not respond properly, go to next step.
  2. Turn ignition off. Disconnect blower motor speed controller 5-pin harness connector C169. Turn ignition on. Measure voltage between blower motor speed controller harness connector C169 terminals No. 1 (Black wire) and No. 2 (Light Green/White wire). See Figure. If more than 9 volts exists, replace blower motor speed controller. Recheck system operation. If 9 volts or less exists, go to next step.
  3. Disconnect EATC module 13-pin harness connector C228. Measure resistance of Light Green/White wire between EATC module harness connector C228 terminal No. 24 and blower motor speed controller harness connector C169 terminal No. 2. Resistance should be less than 5 ohms. Measure resistance between ground and blower motor speed controller harness connector C169 terminal No. 2 (Light Green/White wire). See Figure and Figure . Resistance should be more than 10 k/ohms. If resistances are as specified, replace EATC module. Recheck system operation. If resistances are not as specified, repair open or short in Light Green/White wire. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . Recheck system operation.
