Front Wheel Bearings: Removal
Bearings are preset and cannot be adjusted. If bearing replacement is required for any service, hub and bearing must be replaced as an assembly. Bearings cannot be disassembled from hub and serviced separately.
Raise and support the vehicle. Remove the wheel and tire assembly. Remove the brake disc. Remove and discard the front hub cap grease seal. The front axle wheel hub retainer must never be reused. If the retainer is reused, it can back off resulting in loss of the front wheel and or damage to the wheel hub and bearing assembly. Remove the front axle wheel hub retainer. Discard the retainer. When removing the wheel hub and bearing, use caution not to damage the ABS sensor lead or the ABS sensor ring. The wheel hub and bearing assembly is a slip fit design and should not require a puller to remove. Remove the wheel hub and bearing assembly.
