Removal (VUE)

NOTE: Tools Required:
  • 3 Jaw Puller (J-25031-A)
  • Snap Ring Pliers (SA9149AC-8)
  • Clutch Pulley Installer (J-45504)
  • Clutch Holding Tool (J-45267)
  1. Recover the refrigerant system. See RECOVERY/EVACUATION & RECHARGING in GENERAL SERVICING PROCEDURES article in GENERAL SERVICING. Remove the compressor. See COMPRESSOR under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION in VUE article in MANUAL A/C-HEATER SYSTEMS.
  2. Use the clutch holding tool to hold the disk and hub assembly. Remove the clutch nut and the disk and hub assembly. See Figure.
  3. Remove the spacer.
  4. Use snap ring pliers to remove the pulley snap ring. See Figure.
  5. Use the 3 jawed puller to remove the A/C clutch pulley. See Figure.
  6. Remove the thermal switch bolt and the hold-down bracket. See Figure.
    NOTE: It may be necessary to pry the switch lightly with a small screwdriver.
  7. Lift out the thermal switch while lightly twisting and pulling up on the sensor.
  8. Use snap ring pliers to remove the field coil snap ring. See Figure.
  9. Remove the A/C clutch field coil. See Figure.
