Clutch & Clutch Field Coil: Removal

  1. Remove the A/C compressor. See COMPRESSOR .
  2. Holding the A/C clutch hub with the special tool, remove the bolt. See Fig 1.
  3. Remove the A/C clutch and the A/C clutch hub spacer by threading an 8 x 1.25 mm bolt into the A/C clutch hub spacer to force it from the compressor shaft. Lift the A/C clutch and the A/C clutch hub spacer from the compressor shaft. See Fig 2.
  4. Remove the pulley snap ring. See Fig 3.
  5. Remove the A/C clutch pulley. See Fig 4.
    6. CAUTION: Do not use air tools. The A/C clutch field coil can be easily damaged.
  6. Remove the A/C clutch field coil. Note the location of the A/C clutch field coil electrical connector. Install the special tool on the nose opening of the A/C compressor. Install the special tool. Remove the A/C clutch field coil. See Fig 5.
