Removal & Installation

Discharge A/C system, using approved refrigerant recovery/recycling equipment. See RECOVERY, EVACUATION & RECHARGING in GENERAL SERVICING PROCEDURES article in GENERAL SERVICING. Turn air suspension off. Raise and support vehicle on a hoist. Remove drive belt from clutch pulley.
Disconnect wire harness connector from crankshaft position sensor. See Fig 1. Disconnect connector. See Fig 2.
Disengage wire harness retainer from bracket. See Fig 3. Remove bolts and lower compressor. See Fig 4.
Remove bolts then detach manifold and tube from compressor. See Fig 5. Discard "O" ring seals. Remove bolt then remove bracket from compressor. See Fig 6. Rotate A/C compressor shaft 6-8 revolutions while collecting oil in a clean measuring device.
