Removal & Installation

  1. Disconnect negative battery cable. Discharge A/C system, using approved recovery/recycling equipment. See RECOVERY, EVACUATION & RECHARGING in GENERAL SERVICING PROCEDURES article in GENERAL SERVICING. Remove A/C compressor to condenser discharge line bracket nut. See Figure. Disconnect A/C compressor to condenser discharge line from A/C manifold and tube. See Figure.
  2. Disconnect evaporator to compressor suction line spring lock coupling from compressor manifold and tube assembly and remove evaporator to compressor suction line. See Figure. Remove bolts then detach manifold and tube from compressor. See Figure. Discard "O" ring seals.
  3. To install, reverse removal procedure. Lubricate NEW "O" ring seal with PAG Refrigerant Compressor Oil or equivalent. Add 2 ounces (60 ml) of clean PAG Refrigerant Compressor Oil or equivalent to accumulator-drier inlet tube. Evacuate, leak test, and charge refrigerant system.
