Test A: Both Power Mirrors Inoperative

NOTE: Perform all voltage and resistance tests using a Digital Volt-Ohm Meter (DVOM) with a minimum 10-megohm input impedance, unless stated otherwise in test procedure. Use ohmmeter to isolate wiring harness shorts or opens.
  1. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Remove power mirror control switch. See POWER MIRROR CONTROL SWITCH  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Disconnect power mirror control switch 8-pin harness connector C521. Power mirror harness connector C521is located under driver's door trim panel. See Figure. Measure voltage between ground and power mirror control switch harness connector C521 terminal No. 1 (Light Green/Yellow wire). See Fig 1. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . If voltage is greater than 10 volts, go to next step. If voltage is 10 volts or less, repair open circuit in Light Green/Yellow wire between power mirror control switch and Central Junction Box (CJB). CJB is located under left side of dash panel. See Figure. After repair, test system for normal operation.
  2. Ensure ignition switch is in LOCK position. Measure resistance between ground and power mirror control switch harness connector C521 terminal No. 5 (Black wire). See Fig 1. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . If resistance is 5 ohms or less, go to next step. If resistance is greater than 5 ohms, repair open circuit in Black wire between power mirror control switch and ground point G200. Ground point G200 is located under left side rocker panel. See Figure. After repair, test system for normal operation.
  3. Measure resistance between ground and power mirror control switch harness connector C521 terminals No. 3 (Dark Green wire), No. 4 (Red wire), No. 6 (Yellow wire), No. 7 (Dark Blue/Yellow wire) and No. 8 (Violet wire). See WIRING DIAGRAMS . If all resistance readings are greater than 10 k/ohms, replace power mirror control switch. See POWER MIRROR CONTROL SWITCH  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If any resistance readings are 10 k/ohms or less, repair short circuit to ground in appropriate wire between power mirror control switch and appropriate power mirror. After repair, clear DTC and test system for normal operation.
