Power Mirror Defogger Function (With HVAC Control)
Manual Function
The power mirror defogger is controlled by the rear window defogger/mirror defogger switch.
Defogger Timer Function
The power mirror defogger provides the timer control function that is controlled by the HVAC control unit. The timer control is operated by turning the vehicle to the ON mode, then turn on the rear window defogger/power mirror defogger switch. The timer operating time varies according to ambient temperature. If the rear window defogger/power mirror defogger switch is turned on when the timer is active, it toggles between ON and OFF every time the switch is pressed.
Timer operation time is changed under the following conditions:
- When the evaporator temperature sensor temperature is lower than 16°F (-9°C), the timer operation time is unlimited.
- When the evaporator temperature sensor temperature is higher than 18°F (-8°C), the timer operation time is 20 minutes. But when it was lower than 16°F (-9°C) once, the operation time is changed to unlimited.
- When the evaporator temperature sensor is failure, the timer operation time is 20 minutes.

The power mirror defogger is controlled by the rear window defogger/mirror defogger switch.
With Door Multiplex Control Unit
The power mirror defogger is controlled by the climate control unit. When the vehicle is in the ON mode and the rear window defogger/mirror defogger switch is pressed, the climate control unit sends the defogger ON signal as a B-CAN signal to the door multiplex control unit. The door multiplex control unit operates the left mirror defogger, and sends the defogger ON signal via the LIN to the front passenger's power window switch to operate the right mirror defogger.
Defogger Timer Function
The power mirror defogger system has the timer control function that is controlled by the climate control unit. The timer control operation by turning the vehicle to the ON mode, and then the rear window defogger/power mirror defogger switch ON. The timer operating time varies according to ambient temperature. If the rear window defogger/power mirror defogger switch is turned on when the timer is active, it toggles between ON and OFF every time the switch is pressed.
Auto Mirror Defogger Function
When the climate control unit*1 or the door multiplex control unit*2 receives a signal that the outside air temperature is 41°F (5°C) or below from the outside air temperature sensor, the climate control unit*1 or the door multiplex control unit*2 automatically turns on the left and right power mirror defoggers within 10 seconds after the vehicle is in the ON mode. The power mirror defogger output automatically stops in 10 minutes as a result of its timer. If the rear window defogger/power mirror defogger switch is pressed during the power mirror defogger output, the climate control unit*1 or the door multiplex control unit*2 stops the auto operation function immediately.
