Front Accessory Power Socket Circuit Troubleshooting
- 1. Problem verification:
- 1. Test the front accessory power socket.
Does the cigarette lighter work?
YES
Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time. Check for loose or poor connections.
NO
Go to step 2.
- 2. Fuse check:
- 1. Check the following fuses.
Fuse No. A2-2 (60 A) Location Under-hood fuse/relay box Fuse No. B27 (20 A) No. B19 (7.5 A) Location Under-dash fuse/relay box Is each fuse OK?
YES
Go to step 3.
NO
Replace the fuse. If the fuse blows again, repair a short to ground in the No. A2-2 (60 A), No. B27 (20 A), and/or No. B19 (7.5 A) fuse circuit(s).
- 3. Front accessory power socket relay check:
- 1. Remove the front accessory power socket relay from the under-dash fuse/relay box, and test it .
Is the relay OK?
YES
Go to step 4.
NO
Replace the front accessory power socket relay, then recheck.
- 4. Open wire check (+B F/BOX MAIN line) 1:
- 1. Measure the voltage between test points 1 and 2.
Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode Front accessory power socket relay: disconnected Test point 1 Under-dash fuse/relay box connector D (32P) No. 2 Test point 2 Body ground Is there battery voltage?
YES
Go to step 5.
NO
Repair an open or high resistance in the wire.
- 5. Open wire check (+B F/BOX MAIN line) 2:
- 1. Measure the voltage between test points 1 and 2.
Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode Front accessory power socket: disconnected Test point 1 Front accessory power socket relay 4P socket No. 2 Test point 2 Body ground Is there battery voltage?
YES
Go to step 6.
NO
Repair an open or high resistance in the wire.
- 6. Determine possible failure area (front accessory power socket relay switch side circuit, front accessory power socket relay coil side circuit):
- 1. Connect terminals A and B with a jumper wire.
Terminal A Front accessory power socket relay 4P socket No. 1 Terminal B Front accessory power socket relay 4P socket No. 2 Does the front accessory power socket work?
YES
Go to step 7.
NO
Go to step 9.
- 7. Open wire check (ACC MAIN line) 1:
- 1. Turn the vehicle to the ACCESSORY mode.
- 2. Measure the voltage between test points 1 and 2.
Test condition Vehicle ACCESSORY mode Front accessory power socket: disconnected Front accessory power socket 4P socket No. 1 and No. 2: jumped Test point 1 Under-dash fuse/relay box connector A (5P) No. 5 Test point 2 Body ground Is there battery voltage?
YES
Go to step 8.
NO
Repair an open or high resistance in the wire.
- 8. Open wire check (ACC MAIN line) 2:
- 1. Measure the voltage between test points 1 and 2.
Test condition Vehicle ACCESSORY mode Front accessory power socket relay: disconnected Front accessory power socket relay 4P socket No. 1 and No. 2: jumped Test point 1 Front accessory power socket 4P socket No. 3 Test point 2 Body ground Is there battery voltage?
YES
Repair an open or high resistance in the ground wire or poor ground (G501).
NO
- 9. Open wire check (CIGAR LIGHTER line) 1:
- 1. Measure the voltage between test points 1 and 2.
Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode Front accessory power socket relay: disconnected Front accessory power socket relay 4P socket No. 1 and No. 2: jumped Test point 1 Under-dash fuse/relay box connector N (13P) No. 2 Test point 2 Body ground Is there battery voltage?
YES
Go to step 10.
NO
- 10.Open wire check (CIGAR LIGHTER line) 2:
- 1. Remove the front accessory power socket - Refer to: Console Accessory Power Socket Removal and InstallationFront Accessory Power Socket Removal and Installation .
- 2. Measure the voltage between test points 1 and 2.
Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode Front accessory power socket relay: disconnected Front accessory power socket relay 4P socket No. 1 and No. 2: jumped Test point 1 Front accessory power socket relay 2P connector No. 2 Test point 2 Body ground Is there battery voltage?
YES
Go to step 11.
NO
Repair an open or high resistance in the wire.
- 11.Open wire check (GND line):
- 1. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.
Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode Front accessory power socket relay: disconnected Front accessory power socket relay 4P socket No. 1 and No. 2: jumped Test point 1 Front accessory power socket relay 2P connector No. 1 Test point 2 Body ground Is there continuity?
