You are most likely regularly disinfecting vehicles for the safety of you and your customers. This is important to perform on all vehicles -especially shared ones- to help minimize the spread of COVID-19. Certain disinfectants containing ethanol (ethyl alcohol) 71% or higher, isopropyl alcohol, ammonia, bleach, and/or citrus-based cleaning products can discolor or otherwise damage vehicle surfaces.
Honda recommends cleaning hard non-porous vehicle surfaces using a safe biodegradable disinfectant called Bioesque™ Botanical Disinfectant Solution which is approved by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). It is readily available through your normal fluids ordering program using the information below.
ORDERING INFORMATION
| Part Number | Amount | Quantity |
|---|---|---|
| 08700-9565 | 1 Quart Spray Bottle | 12 units per case |
| 08700-9567 | 1 Gallon Bottle | 4 units per case |
| 08700-9569 | 55 Gallon Drum | 1 unit |
If you are unable to purchase the Honda-recommended biodegradable disinfectant, clean with a mild dish soap and water, then use a 60% - 70% ethanol (ethyl alcohol) to properly disinfect. These are effective cleaning and disinfecting methods according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
Always apply disinfectants using a soft cloth. Never spray disinfectants directly on vehicle surfaces or they could be damaged. After application, wait 5 minutes before rinsing.
After 5 minutes, soak a shop cloth in clean water and wipe down the affected surfaces.
Finally, make sure to use a clean shop towel to completely dry the affected surfaces.
