REVISION SUMMARY
- Under REPAIR PROCEDURE, a step was added to include completing the Vehicle Emissions Recall - Proof of Correction certificate.
- Under WARRANTY CLAIM INFORMATION, there were several changes.
- Under SOFTWARE INFORMATION, some program P/N's were changed.
BACKGROUND
An incorrect learning value in the PCM may cause a pressure problem in the CVT under certain driving conditions, causing a surge in RPM because the CVT belt slips at highway speeds and eventually setting DTC P1890 (CVT speed control system).
CUSTOMER NOTIFICATION
Owners of affected vehicles will be sent a notification of this campaign.
Do an iN VIN status inquiry to make sure the vehicle is shown as eligible.
Some vehicles affected by this campaign may be in your used vehicle inventory. Repair these vehicles before they are sold.
CORRECTIVE ACTION
Do the inspection and depending on if DTC P1890 is set or not, update the PGM-FI software or replace the transmission and update the PGM-FI software.

Before beginning the repair, make sure that both the i-HDS and J2534 software are updated as listed above.
Do only the update listed in this service bulletin.
You cannot apply the updates with the MVCI as a standalone tool. To update the vehicle you must use the MVCI or the DST-i interface in conjunction with the J2534 Rewrite PC application on the i-HDS.

INSPECTION
Connect the i-HDS and check for DTCs.
- If DTC P1890 is not stored, go to REPAIR PROCEDURE - SOFTWARE UPDATE .
- If DTC P1890 is stored, go to REPAIR PROCEDURE - TRANSMISSION REPLACEMENT .
REPAIR PROCEDURE - SOFTWARE UPDATE
NOTE:
- Use the standard rewrite process to complete this bulletin.
- In some 2015 CR-V updates, you may be directed to 16-057, Product Update: 2015 CR-V DTC P1890 . If you are directed to 16-057, go to that bulletin to repair the vehicle.
- You can't update the vehicle using the MVCI as a standalone tool.
- Connect a fully charged jumper battery to the vehicle and leave it connected during the entire procedure to maintain steady voltage.
- Never turn the ignition to OFF or ACCESSORY during the update. If there is a problem with the update, leave the ignition turned to ON.
- To prevent PCM damage, do not operate anything electrical (headlights, audio system, brakes, A/C, power windows, door locks, etc.) during the update.
- Update the PGM-FI or the A/T software by selecting the i-HDS Disagnostic System icon. Refer to Service Bulletin 01-023, Updating Control Units/Modules

, then follow the screen prompts.NOTE: Don't enter a bulletin number.
For 2015 CR-V's only : Depending on the current software in the PCM, you may see the following warning screen. If you do, go to S/B 16-057 to repair the vehicle.
- For California residents only
: Fill out a Vehicle Emissions Recall - Proof of Correction certificate, and use KC0 (Accord) for or KC1 (CR-V) as the recall number. Give the certificate to your customer, and advise him or her to keep it as proof that the product update was completed. Your customer will need to submit this certificate to the DMV only if the DMV requests it. If you need more certificates, use reorder number Y0657.
REPAIR PROCEDURE - TRANSMISSION REPLACEMENT
NOTE:
Per the Service Operations Manual, DPSM authorization is required for transmission replacements.
- Replace the transmission. Refer to service information.
- Fill the transmission with Honda Genuine HCF-2 transmission fluid.HCF-2 TRANSMISSION FLUID SPECIFICATION
Model/Trim Fluid Volume Accord L4 5.3 quarts (5.0 L) CR-V 2WD 5.3 quarts (5.0 L) CR-V AWD 6 quarts (5.7 L) NOTE: Use only Honda Genuine HCF-2 transmission fluid to fill the transmission. If you use the wrong ATF or do not fill the transmission to the proper level, the CVT will perform poorly and may fail again. - Update the PGM-FI system. Refer to REPAIR PROCEDURE - SOFTWARE UPDATE .
- For California residents only
