Rear Differential Oil Seal Replacement(4WD): Replacement
Driveshaft Side
- 1. Vehicle - Lift
- 2. Rear Differential - Remove - Refer to: Rear Differential Removal and Installation(4WD) Rear Differential Removal and Installation(AWD)
- 3. Left Side Oil Seal - Remove
- 4. Right Side Oil Seal - Remove
- 5. Left Side Oil Seal - Install
1. Install a new left side oil seal (A) even and flush with the machined edge of the differential carrier assembly using the 15 x 135L driver handle and the oil seal driver attachment.
- 6. Right Side Oil Seal - Install
1. Install a new rear differential right side oil seal (A) squarely using the 15 x 135L driver handle and the 78 x 80 mm bearing driver attachment
2. Installation depth (B) of the oil seal is 9mm (0.35 in) below the machined edge of the differential carrier assembly.

Propeller Shaft Side
- 1. Vehicle - Lift
- 2. No. 2 Propeller Shaft and Protector - Remove
- 3. Rear Differential Fluid - Drain - Refer to: Rear Differential Fluid Inspection and Replacement(4WD)Rear Differential Fluid Inspection and Replacement(AWD)
- 4. Companion Flange - Remove - Refer to: Rear Differential Disassembly and Reassembly(4WD)Rear Differential Disassembly and Reassembly(AWD)
- 5. Oil Seal - Remove
- 6. Oil Seal - Install
1. Install a new rear differential propeller shaft side oil seal (A) even and flush with the torque control differential (TCD) case using the 65 mm oil seal driver.
- 7. Companion Flange - Install - Refer to: Rear Differential Disassembly and Reassembly(4WD)Rear Differential Disassembly and Reassembly(AWD)
- 8. No. 2 Propeller Shaft and Protector - Install
- 9. Rear Differential Fluid - Refill - Refer to: Rear Differential Fluid Inspection and Replacement(4WD)Rear Differential Fluid Inspection and Replacement(AWD)
