Blower Power Transistor Test(With Climate Control): Test
SRS components are located in this area. Review the SRS component locations and the precautions and procedures before doing repairs or service.
NOTE: Before testing the motor, check for climate control DTCs.
- 1. Passenger's Heater Duct - Remove
- 2. Climate Control Unit Assembly - Remove
- 3. Power Transistor - Test
1. Disconnect the power transistor connector
2. Measure the resistance between terminals No. 2 and No. 4 of the power transistor. It should be about 1.5 kΩ.
- If the resistance is within the specifications, go to step 3.
- If the resistance is not within the specifications, replace the power transistor
.
NOTE: Also check the blower motor. Power transistor failure can be caused by a defective blower motor.
3. Reconnect the power transistor connector.
4. Connect climate control unit 32P connector terminals No. 7 and No. 12 with a jumper wire 5. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode
6. Check that the blower motor runs.
- If the blower motor does not run, replace the power transistor
.
NOTE: A faulty blower motor can cause the power transistor to fail. Before replacing the power transistor, check the blower motor for binding, and replace the blower motor if necessary .
- If the blower motor runs, the power transistor is OK.
- 4. All Removed Parts - Install the parts in the reverse order of removal.
