Cable Reel Removal & Installation: Removal

SRS components are located in this area. Review the SRS component locations and the precautions and procedures before doing repairs or service.

NOTE:  Before doing this procedure, set the front wheels in the straight ahead position.

• 1. 12 Volt Battery Terminal - Disconnect

  NOTE:  Wait at least 3 minutes before starting work.

• 2. Driver's Airbag - Remove 
• 3. Connector (Cable Reel) - Disconnect

  1. Disconnect the connector (A).

• 4. Steering Wheel - Remove
• 5. Column Covers - Remove
• 6. Cable Reel - Remove

  1. Disconnect the connectors (A).

  2. Remove the cable reel/steering angle sensor (A).

  3. Remove the cable reel (A) from the steering angle sensor (B). NOTE:  If reusing these components later, make sure to keep the original positions of the rotating parts as they were before the removal.
