Front Passenger's Airbag Removal & Installation: Removal

SRS components are located in this area. Review the SRS component locations and the precautions and procedures before doing repairs or service.

NOTE:  If replacing the front passenger's airbag after deployment, refer to Component Replacement/Inspection After Deployment for a complete list of other parts that must also be replaced.

• 1. 12 Volt Battery Terminal - Disconnect

  NOTE:  Wait at least 3 minutes before starting work.

• 2. Glove Box - Remove
• 3. Front Passenger's Airbag Assembly - Remove

  1. Disconnect the connector (A)

  2. Remove the mounting nuts (B).

  3. Gently remove the front passenger's airbag and lid assembly (A). NOTE:  The airbag lid has clips (B) on each side where it attaches to the dashboard.

  1. Cut the four parts of the front passenger's lid as shown (A)

  2. Remove the front passenger's airbag from the front passenger's lid (B) as needed.

  NOTE: 

  • Always replace the lid whenever you remove the airbag from the lid.
  • Replace the airbag if its housing is damaged.
