Removal & Installation

SRS components are located in this area. Review the SRS component locations and the precautions and procedures before doing repairs or service.

• 1. 12 Volt Battery Terminal - Disconnect

  NOTE:  Wait at least 3 minutes before starting work.

• 2. Front Passenger's Weight Sensor Unit - Remove

  1. From under the front passenger's seat, disconnect the connectors (A)

  2. Remove the front passenger's weight sensor unit (B) from the bracket (C).

  NOTE:  While separating the front passenger's weight sensor unit from the bracket, use a flat-tipped screwdriver (D) to push and release it from the bracket.

• 3. All Removed Parts - Install the all removed parts in the reverse order of removal.

  NOTE: 

  • Make sure the front passenger's weight sensor unit is properly installed. You will hear a click when the front passenger's weight sensor unit is securely mounted on the bracket.
  • Make sure the front passenger's weight sensor unit has the latest software. If it does not have the latest, update the software in the front passenger's weight sensor unit .
• 4. 12 Volt Battery Terminal - Connect
• 5. Front Passenger's Weight Sensor Unit - Initialize

  NOTE:  After replacing the front passenger's weight sensor unit with a new one, initialize the front passenger's weight sensor unit.

• 6. SRS Operation - Confirm

  1. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode, and check that the SRS indicator comes on for about 6 seconds and then goes off.
