DTC B0050-13: Open or Increased Resistance in the Driver's Seat Belt Buckle Switch
NOTE:
- Before doing this troubleshooting procedure, find out if the vehicle was in a collision. If so, verify that all the required components were replaced with new components, of the correct part number, and that they were properly installed .
- Before doing this troubleshooting procedure, review SRS Precautions and Procedures and General Troubleshooting Information .
- Before replacing the SRS unit, check the SRS unit software version with the HDS. If the software version is not the latest, update the SRS unit software , and retest.
| DTC Description | DTC |
|---|---|
| B0050-13 Open or increased resistance in the driver's seat belt buckle switch |
- 1. Problem verification:
- 1. Clear the DTCs with the HDS .
- 2. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode, then wait for 10 seconds. Buckle and unbuckle the driver's seat belt several times.
- 3. Check for DTCs with the HDS .
DTC Description DTC B0050-13 Open or increased resistance in the driver's seat belt buckle switch Is DTC B0050-13 indicated?
YES
The failure is duplicated. Go to step 2.
NO
Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time. Go to Troubleshooting Intermittent Failures . If another DTC is indicated, troubleshoot the DTC.
- 2. SRS unit check:
- 1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.
- 2. Connect terminals A and B with a jumper wire without disconnecting the SRS unit connector B (39P).
Terminal A SRS unit connector B (39P) No. 18 Terminal B Body ground - 3. Clear the DTCs with the HDS .
- 4. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode, then wait for 10 seconds.
- 5. Check for DTCs with the HDS .
DTC Description DTC B0050-11 Short or decreased resistance in the driver's seat belt buckle switch Is DTC B0050-11 indicated?
YES (with power seat)
Go to step 5.
YES (without power seat)
Go to step 3.
NO
Faulty SRS unit or poor connection at SRS unit connector B (39P) and the SRS unit. Check the connection; if the connection is OK, replace the SRS unit . If the DTC does not clear, replace the floor wire harness or the driver's seat wire harness.
- 3. Open wire check (FLBC line):
- 1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.
- 2. Remove the jumper wire from SRS unit connector B (39P).
- 3. Disconnect the driver's seat belt buckle switch 2P connector (A) on the floor wire harness.
- 4. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode.
- 5. Measure the voltage between test points 1 and 2.
Test condition Vehicle ON mode Driver's seat belt buckle switch 2P connector (on the floor wire harness): disconnected Test point 1 Driver's seat belt buckle switch 2P connector No. 1 (on the floor wire harness) Test point 2 Body ground Is there 10 V or more?
YES
The FLBC wire is OK. Go to step 4.
NO
Open in the floor wire harness; replace the floor wire harness, then clear the DTC.
- 4. Open wire check (GND line):
- 1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.
- 2. Measure the resistance between test points 1 and 2.
Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode Driver's seat belt buckle switch 2P connector (on the floor wire harness): disconnected Test point 1 Driver's seat belt buckle switch 2P connector No. 2 (on the floor wire harness) Test point 2 Body ground Is there 1.0 Ω or less?
YES
The GND wire is OK. Faulty driver's seat belt buckle switch; replace the driver's seat belt buckle assembly , then clear the DTC.
NO
Open in the floor wire harness; check for a poor ground at G601. If the ground is OK, replace the floor wire harness, then clear the DTC.
- 5. Open wire check (FLBC line):
- 1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.
- 2. Remove the jumper wire from SRS unit connector B (39P).
- 3. Disconnect the driver's seat belt buckle switch 2P connector (A) on the driver's seat wire harness.
- 4. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode.
- 5. Measure the voltage between test points 1 and 2.
Test condition Vehicle ON mode Driver's seat belt buckle switch 2P connector (on the driver's seat wire harness): disconnected Test point 1 Driver's seat belt buckle switch 2P connector No. 2 (on the driver's seat wire harness) Test point 2 Body ground Is there 10 V or more?
YES
The FLBC wire is OK. Go to step 6.
NO
Open in the floor wire harness or the driver's seat wire harness; replace the faulty harness, then clear the DTC.
- 6. Open wire check (GND line):
- 1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.
- 2. Measure the resistance between test points 1 and 2.
Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode Driver's seat belt buckle switch 2P connector (on the driver's seat wire harness): disconnected Test point 1 Driver's seat belt buckle switch 2P connector No. 1 (on the driver's seat wire harness) Test point 2 Body ground Is there 1.0 Ω or less?
YES
The GND wire is OK. Faulty driver's seat belt buckle switch; replace the driver's seat belt buckle assembly , then clear the DTC.
NO
Open in the floor wire harness or the driver's seat wire harness; check for a poor ground at G601. If the ground is OK, replace the faulty harness, then clear the DTC.
