DTC 82-11, 82-12, 82-21, 82-22, 83-31, 83-32, 83-41, 83-42: Internal Failure of the Front Passenger's Weight Sensor

NOTE: 

• Before doing this troubleshooting procedure, find out if the vehicle was in a collision. If so, verify that all the required components were replaced with new components of the correct part number, and that they were properly installed .
• Before doing this troubleshooting procedure, review SRS Precautions and Procedures and General Troubleshooting Information .

DTC (SWS)

• 1. Problem verification:

  1. Clear the DTCs with the HDS .

  2. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode, then wait for 10 seconds.

  3. Check for DTCs with the HDS .

  82-11 Internal failure of the front passenger's weight sensor (front inner side)
  82-12 Internal failure of the front passenger's weight sensor (front inner side)
  82-21 Internal failure of the front passenger's weight sensor (rear inner side)
  82-22 Internal failure of the front passenger's weight sensor (rear inner side)
  83-31 Internal failure of the front passenger's weight sensor (front outer side)
  83-32 Internal failure of the front passenger's weight sensor (front outer side)
  83-41 Internal failure of the front passenger's weight sensor (rear outer side)
  83-42 Internal failure of the front passenger's weight sensor (rear outer side)

  Is DTC 82-11, 82-12, 82-21, 82-22, 83-31, 83-32, 84-41, or 84-42 indicated?

  YES 

  The failure is duplicated. Replace the front passenger's seat rail including all four front passenger's weight sensors .

  NO 

  Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time. Go to Troubleshooting Intermittent Failures . If another DTC is indicated, troubleshoot the DTC.
