Description And Operation: Description
The vehicle may be equipped with an anti-theft system using ultrasonic sensors (1). The system uses the vehicle's acoustic warnings if a break-in is detected. An Alarm Siren Unit (ASU) can be installed as an option.
The Ultrasonic and Anti-tilt Module (UAM) (2) manages the ultrasound sensors. The UAM uses an inclination sensor in addition to the sensors placed in the front ceiling light to detect movement in the passenger compartment. If the vehicle is inclined, to remove a wheel or if towed, the UAM sends a signal to the Body Control Module (BCM) to activate the acoustic warnings.
The ultrasound and anti-tilt alarm OFF button (3) is connected directly to the UAM. System deactivation when the vehicle is stopped and at key-off is notified by lighting the LED on the button. If there is a forced entry attempt, or if engine start up is attempted beyond the ignition system, the BCM activates the vehicle's acoustic warnings.
The alarm activates in the following cases:
- When an attempt is made to force open a door, the hood or the decklid/liftgate (perimeter protection)
- When the ignition system is activated outside of the security system on the vehicle
- Cutting of battery cables (with ASU)
The module for the system is supplied power by the battery. The module and sensors are located inside the roof light cover and are integral to the roof lamp unit.
The UAM and the two ultrasonic transducers cannot be adjusted or repaired. If ineffective or damaged, the entire roof lamp unit must be replaced.
