Theory Of Operation

The Forward Facing Camera Module (FFCM) is located behind the rear-view mirror in contact with the windshield. The module is a visual spectrum camera which helps determine the type of object detected by the ACC radar. The FFCM is the primary module for the Lane Departure Warning function. The module transmits data to the ACC module over a dedicated CAN-C operating at 500 kbps.

The FFCM is also connected, via the CAN bus, to the Body Control Module and to the Instrument Cluster, and manages the Lane Departure Warning light and failure signals.
