Theory Of Operation

The Stop Lamp Switch is hardwired to the Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) Module. When the brake pedal is pressed, the ABS Module sends a signal to the Body Control Module (BCM), indicating the Stop Lamp Switch is activated. The BCM provides outputs in order to illuminate various components. The BCM also sends out a CAN Bus message, to modules on the CAN Bus, indicating the Stop Lamp Switch is activated.
