Removal And Installation: Removal

1. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable.
2. Remove the carrier plate. Refer to PLATE, CARRIER, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
3. Working on the carrier plate, release the control cable (1d) retainers (1b) and then (1c) from the latch (1a).

4. Turn the carrier plate over, then release and open the latch (1b) cover (1a).
5. Release the retainers (2a) and then (2b) of the interior handle control cable (2c).
6. Disconnect the wire harness connector (3a) from the latch.
7. Remove the latch (1b), releasing it from the retainers (4a).
8. If necessary, release the bulkhead grommet (5a) and remove the control cable (2c).

INSTALLATION

1. If removed, position the control cable (1a) and engage the bulkhead grommet (1b).
2. Position the latch (2a) and engage it in the retainers (2b).
3. Connect the wire harness connector (3a) to the latch.
4. Engage the control cable (1a) retainers (4a) and then (4b) with the latch.
5. Close and engage the cover (5a) with the latch.

6. Turn the carrier plate over, engage the control cable (1d) retainers (1c) and then (1b) with the latch (1a).
7. Install the carrier plate. Refer to PLATE, CARRIER, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
8. Connect the negative battery cable.
