Description And Operation

DESCRIPTION

The power top sunroof provides an extra passenger compartment ventilation and ensures swift air exchange when necessary for improved passenger comfort.

The power top sunroof consists of an electrically actuated panel, and an electrically actuated sun blind.

The sunroof and sunshade has two modes of operation; manual and express. Manual mode is active when the sunroof or sunshade button is pressed and held for a time >0.8 seconds. When in manual mode the sunroof or sunshade operation will stop whenever the button is released. Express mode operation is a convenience feature that will automatically open or close the sunroof or sunshade when the button is pressed & released in a time <0.8 seconds. Pressing any of the sunroof or sunshade buttons while in express mode is active will immediately stop operation.

Three button actuated sunroof and sunshade express mode:

The power top sunroof and shade motor also includes an anti-pinch function: during closing if movement is interrupted, obstacle is detected, the motor will reverse it's self. The motor uses a Hall Effect sensor to determine if the feature needs to be activated.

The power top sunroof and sunshade will only operate with the ignition in the ON position.

OPERATION

The sunroof motor receives a direct power supply from a fuse protected circuit from rear Power Distribution Center (PDC). The PDC fuse receives power from the Body Control Module (BCM).

The BCM receives direct battery power from a fuse protected line located in the prefuse assembly on top of the battery.

The BCM receives an ignition-operated power supply by the wake signal coming from the Radio Frequency Hub Module (RFHM).

The power top sunroof motor and sunshade control signals are sent by three switches on the overhead console lighting switch array.
