Description And Operation
Base Model
The rear calipers are floating type with a single piston. The rear calipers are produced by Continental. The rear caliper features an electric actuator through which the parking brake is engaged/released.
From the mechanical point of view, the actuator is equipped with an electric motor which moves, by means of a shaft with a ball screw placed inside the caliper piston. The rotation of the ball screw allows the piston to move forward or backward based on the direction of rotation of the electric motor. All the engaged/released management of the parking brake is handled by the Antilock Brake System (ABS) module.
Quadrifoglio Model
On rear braking installations having monoblock calipers (Quadrifoglio model), a second caliper of Brembo® production is added for the purpose of realizing a parking brake through an electrical actuator.
The calipers are floating type with single piston. The piston is driven by an electrical actuator installed on the caliper. The calipers provide the engaged/released setting of the parking brake.
