Removal And Installation: 2.9L: Installation
Be certain to adjust the refrigerant oil level when servicing the A/C refrigerant system. Failure to properly adjust the refrigerant oil level will prevent the A/C system from operating as designed and can cause serious A/C compressor damage.
When replacing multiple A/C system components, see the Refrigerant Oil Capacities chart to determine how much oil should be added to the refrigerant system. Refer to OIL, REFRIGERANT, STANDARD PROCEDURE .
Replacement of the refrigerant line seals is required anytime a refrigerant line is disconnected. Failure to replace the rubber O-ring seals may result in a refrigerant system leak.
- Remove the tape or plugs from the opened refrigerant line fittings.NOTE:
Lubricate NEW seals with clean refrigerant oil and install them onto the open refrigerant line fittings. Use only the specified seals as they are made of a special material for the system. Use only refrigerant oil of the type recommended for the A/C compressor in the vehicle.
- Install the A/C suction line (1) to the A/C suction jumper line (2a). Install a NEW O-ring seal.
- Install the A/C suction line retaining clamps (3a)
- Remove the tape or plugs from the opened refrigerant line fittings.NOTE:

- Install the A/C suction line (1b) to the expansion valve (1c). Install a NEW O-ring seal.
- Install the nut (1a) that secures the A/C suction line (1c) to the expansion valve and tighten to the proper specification. Refer to TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS .
- Install the wiring harness connectors (1a) to the bracket (1b).
- Install the left air intake duct. Refer to BODY, AIR CLEANER, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
- Install the engine cover. Refer to COVER, ENGINE, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
- Connect the negative battery cable. If equipped with an Intelligent Battery Sensor (IBS), connect the IBS connector.
- Adjust the refrigerant oil level. Refer to OIL, REFRIGERANT, STANDARD PROCEDURE .
- Charge the refrigerant system. Refer to PLUMBING, STANDARD PROCEDURE .
