Negative Battery Cable

NOTE:

Battery terminals must be disconnected only with the ignition key on STOP or removed for at least one minute and never with key on or when the engine is running.

REMOVAL

Remove the battery cover in the trunk.
Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable.

Release the retaining clip (1a) and remove the nut (1b).
Set the ground wire aside.
Check that the ground wire is not damaged and that the individual wires are securely attached to the connections. If needed, perform continuity checks.

INSTALLATION

Position the negative battery cable for installation.
Connect the cable terminal to the chassis ground, install and tighten the nut to the specified torque.

Install the ground lead on the retaining clip.
Connect the negative battery cable.
