Description And Operation: Navigation: Description
The Radio Infotainment system in the vehicle may have a 6.5 inch or an 8.8 inch color display.
The system manages four main functions:
- RADIO/ENTERTAINMENT TELEMATICS MODULE (RADIO/ETM)
- MEDIA
- TELEPHONE
- NAVIGATOR
The Radio/ETM is a Controller Area Network (CAN) node through which information is exchanged with the Body Control Module (BCM) and with the other CAN modules. The Radio/ETM is equipped with an anti-theft system through the connection of the Radio/ETM on the CAN with the BCM; it also manages volume control linked to the vehicle speed: the volume increases and decreases in relation to the speed of the vehicle: this information reaches the Radio/ETM node through the CAN data bus.
The system can be managed via the center console remote radio switch on the center console: turn it to navigate the menus, press it to activate/confirm the selections, push it to the left to go back to the preceding screen.
The Entertainment Multimedia Control Module (EMCM) manages the center console remote radio switch and transmits them to the Radio/ETM. The EMCM is a CAN node through which information is exchanged with the BCM and with the other CAN modules.
Some buttons on the steering wheel make it possible to replicate some of the commands which are acquired as analogue signals by the Radio/ETM.
The Radio/ETM is hidden on this model, located within the instrument panel while a dedicated wire harness connects it to the monitor (center stack display screen) that the user can see located in the traditional position in the middle of the instrument panel.
The navigation system components cannot be adjusted or repaired. If any of the navigation system components is damaged or ineffective, that component must be replaced. The external combination antenna can be repaired separately from the Radio/ETM. The navigation system software as well as the map data is flash programmable through the Universal Serial Bus (USB) port.
