Diagnostic Test

CHECK FOR AN ACTIVE DTC
NOTE:
Make sure the Transmission fluid is at the proper level before proceeding. Refer to CHECK FLUID LEVEL .
1. With the scan tool, read Transmission Control Module (TCM) DTCs and record the Event and Environmental Data on the repair order as it may be needed to determine the root cause of this DTC. It may be very difficult to reset this DTC so this step is very important .
2. Record the Event Data and Environmental Data.
3. With the scan tool, erase DTCs.
4. Using the recorded Event and Environmental Data, along with the When Monitored and Set Conditions above, operate the vehicle in the conditions that set the DTC.
5. With the scan tool, read TCM DTCs.
  Did the DTC return?
  
  Yes
  - Go To 2
  No
  - Go To 3
CHECK TRANSMISSION FLUID CONDITION
1. Check the Transmission fluid condition.
  Is the Transmission fluid burnt?
  
  Yes
  - Remove the Transmission and perform the appropriate repair for this DTC in accordance with the Service Information. Refer to REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  - Perform the TRANSMISSION VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to TRANSMISSION VERIFICATION TEST .
  No
  - Replace the Valve Body in accordance with the Service information. Refer to VALVE BODY, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  - Perform the TRANSMISSION VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to TRANSMISSION VERIFICATION TEST .
CHECK WIRING AND CONNECTORS
1. The conditions necessary to set the DTC are not present at this time.
2. Using the schematics as a guide, inspect the wiring and connectors specific to this circuit.
3. Wiggle the wires while checking for shorted and open circuits.
4. Check for any Service Bulletins that may apply.
  Were any problems found?
  
  Yes
  - Repair as necessary.
  - Perform the TRANSMISSION VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to TRANSMISSION VERIFICATION TEST .
  No
  - Using the recorded Event and Environmental Data, along with the When Monitored and Set Conditions above, operate the vehicle in the conditions that set the DTC. Pay particular attention to the shifts relating to this DTC. If rough shifting is present and the Adaptation Procedure has been performed. Refer to MODULE PROGRAMMING or STANDARD PROCEDURE .
    replace the Valve Body in accordance with the Service information. Refer to VALVE BODY, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  - Perform the TRANSMISSION VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to TRANSMISSION VERIFICATION TEST .
  - Test Complete.
