Removal And Installation

REMOVAL 

1. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable.
2. Remove the left rear wheelhouse splash guard. Refer to SHIELD, SPLASH, REAR WHEELHOUSE, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
3. Remove the fuel fill door. Refer to DOOR, FUEL FILL, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION Refer to, DOOR, FUEL FILL LOCK, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .

4. Using a trim stick or equivalent tool, press the area (1a) with your fingertips and detach the inside body retainers (1b), then take out the rear side (1c) of the housing (1d).
5. Disconnect the wiring harness connector (2a) from the fuel door actuator (2b).
6. Rotate the fuel door actuator (2b) counter-clockwise to remove.

7. Working from the left side of the engine compartment, apply a cable extension (1a) to the end of the fuel fill door release cable (1b) (the cable extension will be used to re-insert the cable).

8. Working on the rear left side of the wheelhouse, free the release cable (1b) and feed it through the cable opening (1a).
9. Completely remove the release cable (1b) from the vehicle while leaving the connected cable extension installed to the release cable.
10. Recover the fuel door actuator (3a) together with the release cable (1b).

INSTALLATION 

1. Inspect the fuel door actuator and release cable integrity.

2. Using the cable extension, feed the release cable (1a) in position up to the luggage compartment.
3. Remove the cable extension from the release cable.
4. Install the gasket seals (2a) in their housings.

5. Place the fuel door actuator (1a) in the housing (1b) and turn it clockwise to install.
6. Connect the wiring harness connector (2a) to the fuel door actuator (1a).
7. Position the housing (1b) in place and engage the four inner retainers (3a).

8. Operate the release cable (1a) to confirm that the cable and actuator are operating properly.
9. Install the fuel fill door. Refer to DOOR, FUEL FILL, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION Refer to, DOOR, FUEL FILL LOCK, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
10. Install the left rear wheelhouse splash guard. Refer to SHIELD, SPLASH, REAR WHEELHOUSE, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
11. Connect the negative battery cable.
