- CHECK FOR OTHER DTCS
- CHECK FOR A BLOCKAGE BETWEEN THE PURGE SOLENOID AND THE EVAPORATIVE CANISTER
- Turn the ignition off.
- Remove the vacuum line from the outlet port of the Purge Solenoid (this is the line that leads to the Evaporative Canister).
- Check the line for a restriction.
Is the line restricted?
Yes
- Repair the restriction between the Purge Solenoid and the Evaporative Canister.
- Perform the POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST .
No

- CHECK THE VACUUM SUPPLY AT THE OUTLET OF THE PURGE SOLENOID WITH SOLENOID OFF
- Remove the vacuum line from the outlet port of the Purge Solenoid (this is the line that leads to the Evaporative Canister) if not previously done so.
- Connect a vacuum gauge to the outlet port of the Purge Solenoid.
- Start the engine and allow it to idle.
- Check the vacuum supply at the Purge Solenoid outlet port with the Purge Solenoid off.
Is engine vacuum present?
Yes
- Replace the Purge Solenoid in accordance with the Service Information.
- Perform the POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST .
No

- CHECK THE VACUUM SUPPLY AT THE OUTLET OF THE PURGE SOLENOID WITH SOLENOID ON
- Allow the engine to idle long enough for the Purge Solenoid to cycle on.
- Check the vacuum supply at the Purge Solenoid outlet port with the Purge Solenoid on.
Is engine vacuum present?
Yes
- Verify that there is good pin to terminal contact in the Leak Detection Module harness connector. If no problems were found with the connector, replace the Leak Detection Module in accordance with the Service Information.
- Perform the POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST .
No

- CHECK THE VACUUM SUPPLY AT THE INLET OF THE PURGE SOLENOID
- Remove the vacuum line from the inlet port of the Purge Solenoid (this is the line that leads to the Engine).
- Connect a vacuum gauge to the hose that connects to the inlet port of the Purge Solenoid.
- Check the vacuum supply.
Is engine vacuum present?
Yes
- Verify that there is good pin to terminal contact in the solenoid and PCM harness connectors. Replace the Purge Solenoid if no problems were found in the connectors.
- Perform the POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST .
No
- Repair the cause of loss of vacuum (broken or pinched vacuum supply line or obstruction in the vacuum port).
- Perform the POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST .
