Diagnostic Test

- CHECK THE HIGH PRESSURE FUEL SYSTEM
- Check that the high pressure fuel system is intact.
System is not intact?
Yes
- Go To 2
No
- Restore the system.
- Perform the POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST .
- Check that the high pressure fuel system is intact.
- FUEL RAIL PRESSURE SENSOR AND CHECK PCM-1
- Check for loose, damaged or corroded connections on the Fuel Rail Pressure Sensor or on the PCM-1.
Are there any loose or damaged connections?
Yes
- Repair the wiring connections as necessary.
- Perform the POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST .
No
- Go To 3
- Check for loose, damaged or corroded connections on the Fuel Rail Pressure Sensor or on the PCM-1.
- CHECK WIRING BETWEEN FUEL RAIL PRESSURE SENSOR AND PCM-1 FOR AN OPEN/HIGH RESISTANCE
- Check the wiring for an open circuit or high resistance between the Fuel Rail Pressure Sensor and PIN 40 of the connector on the engine side of the PCM-1.
Is there a high resistance or open condition in the wiring?
Yes
- Repair the open circuit or high resistance in the wiring.
- Perform the POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST .
No
- Go To 4
- Check the wiring for an open circuit or high resistance between the Fuel Rail Pressure Sensor and PIN 40 of the connector on the engine side of the PCM-1.
- CHECK WIRING BETWEEN FUEL RAIL PRESSURE SENSOR AND PCM-1 FOR A SHORT
- Check for a short circuit in the wiring between the Fuel Rail Pressure Sensor and PIN 40 of the connector on the motor side of the PCM-1.
Is there a short circuit in the wiring?
Yes
- Repair the short circuit in the wiring.
- Perform the POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST .
No
- Go To 5
- Check for a short circuit in the wiring between the Fuel Rail Pressure Sensor and PIN 40 of the connector on the motor side of the PCM-1.
- CHECK FUEL RAIL PRESSURE SENSOR OPERATION
- Check that the Fuel Rail Pressure Sensor is working correctly.
Is the operation of the Fuel Rail Pressure Sensor incorrect?
Yes
- Replace the Fuel Rail Pressure Sensor.
- Perform the POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST .
No
- Go To 6
- Check that the Fuel Rail Pressure Sensor is working correctly.
- CHECK HIGH PRESSURE FUEL PUMP OPERATION
- Check that the High Pressure Fuel Pump is working correctly.
High Pressure Fuel Pump not working correctly
Yes
- End of diagnosis.
No
- Replace the High Pressure Fuel Pump.
- Perform the POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST .
- Check that the High Pressure Fuel Pump is working correctly.
