- CHECK THE (D504) LIN BUS LIGHTING SIG RT CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO ANOTHER CIRCUIT IN THE HARNESS CONNECTOR NOTE:
The ignition may not turn on when the BCM harness connector containing the circuit being tested is disconnected. Therefore, this step can help determine if the circuit being tested is shorted to another voltage circuit in any of the related harness connectors.
- Check for continuity between the (D504) LIN Bus LIN Bus Lighting Sig Rt circuit and all other circuits on the SCCM C1 harness connector.
- Check for continuity between the (D504) LIN Bus LIN Bus Lighting Sig Rt circuit and all other circuits on the BCM C8/H harness connector.
Is there continuity between the (D504) LIN Bus Lighting Sig Rt circuit and any other circuit(s)?
Yes
- Repair the short between the (D504) LIN Bus Lighting Sig Rt circuit and the circuit that has continuity.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to BODY VERIFICATION TESTSTANDARD PROCEDURE .
No
- Inspect the (D504) LIN Bus Lighting Sig Rt circuit for a short to voltage, between the Speed Control Switch harness connector and the BCM C8/H harness connector. Repair, if needed. If no problems are found, Go To 6
- CHECK RELATED HARNESS CONNECTIONS
- Disconnect all BCM harness connectors.
- Disconnect all related in-line harness connections (if equipped).
- Disconnect the related component harness connectors.
- Inspect harness connectors, component connectors, and all male and female terminals for the following conditions:
- Proper connector installation.
- Damaged connector locks.
- Corrosion.
- Other signs of water intrusion.
- Weather seal damage (if equipped).
- Bent terminals.
- Overheating due to a poor connection (terminal may be discolored due to excessive current draw).
- Terminals that have been pushed back into the connector cavity.
- Perform a terminal drag test on each connector terminal to verify proper terminal tension.
Repair any conditions that are found.
- Connect all BCM harness connectors. Be certain that all harness connectors are fully seated and the connector locks are fully engaged.
