Diagnostic Test

  1. CHECK FOR AN ACTIVE DTC
    1. With the scan tool, read Powertrain Control Module (PCM) DTCs and Freeze Frame Data and record on the repair order.
    2. Using the recorded Freeze Frame Data and the When Monitored and Set Conditions above, operate the vehicle in the conditions that set the DTC.
    3. With the scan tool, read DTCs.

Is the DTC active or pending?

      Yes

      • Go To  2

      No

  2. CHECK THE AIR INTAKE SYSTEM AND INTAKE MANIFOLD FOR LEAKS
    1. Visually inspect for leaks or damage to the intake air supply plumbing.
    2. Check for vacuum leaks at the Intake Manifold.

Are there any leaks or damage to the intake air supply plumbing or Intake Manifold?

      Yes

      No

      • Go To  3
  3. CHECK THE (F853) 5-VOLT SUPPLY CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN/HIGH RESISTANCE
    1. Turn the ignition off.
    2. Disconnect the Boost Pressure Sensor harness connector.
    3. Disconnect the PCM C2 harness connector.
    4. Measure the resistance of the (F853) 5-Volt Supply circuit between the Boost Pressure Sensor harness connector and the PCM C2 harness connector.

Is the resistance below 3.0 Ohms?

      Yes

      • Go To  3

      No

      • Repair the (F853) 5-Volt Supply circuit for an open or high resistance.
      • Perform the POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST.
  4. CHECK THE (K37) BOOST PRESSURE SIGNAL CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN/HIGH RESISTANCE
    1. Measure the resistance of the (K37) Boost Pressure Signal circuit between the Boost Pressure Sensor harness connector and the PCM C2 harness connector.

Is the resistance below 3.0 Ohms?

      Yes

      • Repair the (K37) Boost Pressure Signal circuit for an open or high resistance.
      • Perform the POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST.

      No

      • Go To  4
  5. CHECK THE (K916) SENSOR GROUND CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN/HIGH RESISTANCE
    1. Turn the ignition off.
    2. Measure the resistance of the (K916) Sensor Ground circuit between the Boost Pressure Sensor harness connector and the PCM C2 harness connector.

Is the resistance below 3.0 Ohms?

      Yes

      No

      • Repair the (K916) Sensor Ground circuit for an open or high resistance.
      • Perform the POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST .
