Theory Of Operation
The Body Control Module (BCM) provides a voltage output through the Left or Right Turn Lamp Driver circuits, or the Side Repeater Lamp Control Output circuit (if equipped), to the Front or Tail Lamp Assemblies. A ground path for the Front and Tail Lamp Assemblies is present through the harness to the body sheet metal.
The Left Multifunction Switch includes an integral momentary five-position multiplexed switch to provide Left and Right Turn Lamp input signals to the BCM. When a Left Multifunction Switch position is selected, the lever will return to the central/resting position and the BCM will activate the appropriate Turn Lamps.
The Left Multifunction Switch uses five internal resistors. Depending on the selected position, a specific resistance value is applied to the BCM input signal. The resistance values below are approximate.
Left Multifunction Switch Resistance Values
- Right Turn (Steady Flash): 75.0 Ohms
- Right Lane Change (Five Flashes): 110.0 Ohms
- Center (Resting) Position: 178.0 Ohms
- Left Lane Change Flash (Five Flashes): 340.0 Ohms
- Left Turn (Steady Flash): 976.0 Ohms
