Diagnostic Test
- CHECK FOR OTHER DTCS
- Start the engine and allow it to idle.
- With the scan tool, read Powertrain Control Module 2 (PCM-2) DTCs and Freeze Frame Data and record on the repair order.
Is there any Intelligent Alternator or Alternator Control DTCs also present?
Yes
- Perform the applicable diagnostic procedure(s). Refer to DTC INDEX .
No
- Go To 2
- CHECK FOR AN ACTIVE DTC NOTE:
Inspect the vehicle for aftermarket accessories that may exceed the Alternator System output.
NOTE:Depending on application, inspect the fusible link in the charge wire or fuses in the PDC or an open. If an open is found, use the wire diagram/schematic as a guide and inspect the wiring and connectors for damage.
- Start the engine and allow it to idle.
