Half Shaft 2.9L

RIGHT HAND (RH) OR LEFT HAND (LH)

REMOVAL

NOTE:

Handle the half shaft carefully and support it only by the shaft, without grabbing the boots.

Avoid moving the joints with respect to the shaft, keeping them as horizontal as possible.

Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to HOISTING, STANDARD PROCEDURE .
Remove the Right Hand (RH) or Left Hand (LH) rear knuckle. Refer to KNUCKLE, REAR, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .

Remove the rear half shaft bolts (1a) and remove the half shaft (1b).

INSTALLATION

NOTE:

Handle the half shaft carefully and support it only by the shaft, without grabbing the boots.

Avoid moving the joints with respect to the shaft, keeping them as horizontal as possible.

Position the half shaft (1b) in the vehicle and install the rear half shaft bolts (1a).

Tighten the rear half shafts bolts (1b) to the proper specification. Refer to TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
Install the RH or LH rear knuckle. Refer to KNUCKLE, REAR, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
Check the Rear Drive Unit (RDU) fluid level and add as needed. Refer to FLUID, DIFFERENTIAL .
Remove the support and lower the vehicle.
