- Install ten inner head bolts (2a) hand tight.
- Install one outer head bolt (2b) hand tight.
- Tighten the ten inner cylinder head bolts (1 - 10) in the sequence shown, following this 4 step torque plus angle method. Tighten according to the following torque values:
- Step 1: All to 20 N.m (15 ft. lbs.)
- Step 2: All to 55 N.m (40 ft. lbs.)
- Step 3: All again to 55 N.m (41 ft. lbs.)
- Step 4: All an additional 180° Turn Do not use a torque wrench for this step.
- Tighten the one outer cylinder head bolt (11) to 28 N.m (21 ft. lbs.).NOTE:
To avoid bending the camshaft, partially tighten each cam cap bolt, one turn at a time, to seat the camshaft to the head. Do not torque to specification until the cam caps are in full contact with the cylinder head.
- Position the camshaft in the cylinder head, install the camshaft bearing caps (1a) and bolts (1b).
- Tighten the bolts in the sequence shown to the proper specification. Refer to TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
