Exhaust Manifold Heat Shield

REMOVAL 

1. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable.
2. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to HOISTING, STANDARD PROCEDURE .
3. Remove the turbocharger. Refer to TURBOCHARGER, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .

   NOTE:

   The exhaust manifold heat shield (1b) and exhaust manifold gasket (1c) are part of the same assembly. They cannot be reused and must be replaced.

4. Remove the bolts (1a). Remove and discard the exhaust manifold heat shield (1b) complete with the turbocharger gasket (1c).

INSTALLATION 

1. Install a NEW  exhaust manifold heat shield and tighten the bolts.
2. Install the turbocharger. Refer to TURBOCHARGER, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
3. If removed, install the oil filter and fill the engine crankcase with the proper oil to the correct level. Refer to CAPACITIES AND RECOMMENDED FLUIDS, SPECIFICATIONS .
4. Connect the negative battery cable.
5. Remove the support and lower the vehicle.
