Coolant Return To Pump And Supply To Turbocharger Tandem Pipe

REMOVAL 

1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to HOISTING, STANDARD PROCEDURE .
2. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable.
3. Drain the engine coolant system. Refer to DRAINING AND FILLING THE ENGINE COOLING SYSTEM  .
4. Drain the turbocharger coolant system. Refer to DRAINING AND FILLING THE TURBOCHARGER COOLING SYSTEM  .
5. Remove the left front wheelhouse splash shield. Refer to SHIELD, SPLASH, FRONT WHEELHOUSE, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
6. Remove the intake manifold. Refer to MANIFOLD, INTAKE, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
7. Remove the turbocharger and the exhaust manifold heat shield. Refer to MANIFOLD, EXHAUST, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .

8. Disengage the retaining clip (2a) and disconnect the upper heater core return hose quick-connect fitting (2b).

9. Remove the bolt (1c) and remove the turbocharger coolant supply pipe (1b) from the turbocharger.

10. Loosen the clamp (1a) and remove the tandem pipe coolant hose (1c) from the water pump inlet tube.

11. Remove the bolt (1) securing the tandem pipe to the cylinder head, exhaust side.

12. Disengage the wire harness retainer (1) from the stud-bolt.

13. Disconnect the fuel pressure regulator wire harness connector (1).
14. Remove the stud-bolt (2) securing the tandem pipe retaining bracket.

15. Remove the bolt (2) securing the tandem pipe to the rear of the cylinder head and remove the coolant return to pump and supply to turbocharger tandem pipe (1) from the engine.
16. If required, loosen the clamp and remove the upper heater core return hose from the tandem pipe.

INSTALLATION 

1. If removed, install the upper heater core return hose to the tandem pipe and tighten the clamp.
2. Position the coolant return to pump and supply to turbocharger tandem pipe to the engine. Install and tighten the bolt on the rear of the cylinder head and the stud-bolt on the exhaust side.
3. Connect the fuel pressure regulator wire harness connector and secure the wire harness retainer (1) to the stud-bolt.
4. Install and tighten the bolt securing the tandem pipe to the cylinder head, exhaust side.
5. Install the tandem pipe coolant hose to the water pump inlet tube and tighten the clamp.
6. Connect the upper heater core return hose quick-connect fitting and engage the retaining clip.
7. Install the exhaust manifold heat shield and turbocharger. Refer to MANIFOLD, EXHAUST, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
8. Install the intake manifold. Refer to MANIFOLD, INTAKE, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
9. Install the left front wheelhouse splash shield. Refer to SHIELD, SPLASH, FRONT WHEELHOUSE, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
10. Fill the turbocharger coolant system. Refer to DRAINING AND FILLING THE TURBOCHARGER COOLING SYSTEM  .
11. Fill the engine coolant system. Refer to DRAINING AND FILLING THE ENGINE COOLING SYSTEM  .
12. Connect the negative battery cable.
13. Remove the support and lower the vehicle.
