Description And Operation: Standard
The Keyless GO system is standard equipment on this vehicle. For information regarding the Keyless GO starting system. Refer to KEYLESS GO, DESCRIPTION AND OPERATION .
OPERATION
Starting/Charging wiring diagram.
Electronic key with START/STOP button (Keyless Entry Go) is adopted as standard equipment instead of the traditional mechanical key on this model.
The ignition device (START/STOP button) has the following possible states:
- STOP: engine off, steering column locked. Some electrical devices (e.g. door locking system, alarm, etc.) are still available
- ON: driving position. All electrical devices are available. This state can be entered by pressing the START/STOP button once, without pressing the brake pedal (versions with automatic transmission) or the clutch pedal (versions with manual gearbox)
- ACC: engine starting
The ignition and recharging circuit consists of the battery, starter and generator.
The starter consists of a Direct Current (DC) motor supplied by the battery and an energizing electromagnet.
When the key enable signal (INT) is sent, the warning light in the Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) illuminates and sends a power supply to the voltage regulator built into the generator.
In these conditions the energizing circuit (rotor) is enabled to ground by the regulator electronics.
With the generator rotating through the effect of the variation in the Revolution Per Minute (RPM) and the magnetic field, a three-phase alternating voltage is produced in the electrical circuit (stator) which, regulated by the diode bridge, can exit B+ terminal.
When the upper voltage calibration level is reached (13.7 - 14.2 V) the battery is charged and the system supplied battery voltage.
This engine fits an electronically controlled generator, provided with a regulator that receives controls from the Powertrain Control Module (PCM). This allows for a better performance in terms of:
- A reduction of fuel consumption and emissions
- An improvement of the vehicle dynamics and power distribution
- The improvement of the vehicles energy management (positive effects on electrical balance and battery life)
