Removal And Installation: RWD: Removal

  1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to HOISTING, STANDARD PROCEDURE .
  2. Remove the tire and wheel assembly. Refer to REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  3. Remove the front brake rotor. Refer to ROTOR, BRAKE, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .

  4. Remove and DISCARD  the outer tie rod end (1b) to knuckle mounting nut (1a).

  5. Remove and DISCARD  the tension strut (1c) to knuckle mounting nut (1a).

  6. Using special tool (special tool #2032500020, Remover, Front Suspension Ball Joint) (1a) and separate the tension strut (1b) from the knuckle.
  7. Inspect and make sure that the bushing (2) is in its original position.

  8. Remove the hub and bearing to knuckle mounting bolts (1a).
  9. Remove the hub and bearing (1b) from the vehicle.
