DESCRIPTION

The braking system allows "Brake by Wire" braking (electronic braking). It is a totally integrated system and offers the following main benefits:

FRONT ROTORS FOR THE QUADRIFOGLIO MODEL.

They are all by Brembo® and ventilated type.

Two types of front rotor are available (two different part numbers):

Front Rotors are Ceramic Composite Material (CCM) carbon-ceramic (2.9L V6)

CCM ensures advantages in terms of performance on dry or wet conditions, weight, comfort, resistance to corrosion, long life and high-tech.

CCM Rotor

CCM rotors are constructed from a material with a high coefficient of friction. CCM rotors are more durable than steel rotors. The material used is the result of a "mesh" of intertwined carbon fibers immersed in a ceramic matrix.

NOTE:

However, it should be highlighted that racing or other extreme driving conditions, can significantly reduce the overall lifetime of even the most durable pads and rotors. Therefore, it is a good idea to perform a normal inspection of the CCM rotors after a racing session.

NOTE:

Disassembling the hat from the rotor is not allowed during service. Failure to observe this constraint could compromise rotor's safety, performance and life.

CCM Rotor Identification Code

Each CCM rotor is identified by a serial number. There are also other identification codes on the rotor's "hat."

NOTE:

If the rotor is accidentally dropped while servicing the vehicle, its integrity could be compromised when operating the vehicle. Perform a thorough inspection for damage before reinstalling the rotor on the vehicle.

CALIPERS

Front brake calipers for the Quadrifoglio model. Front calipers - specifically for CCM rotors.

The CCM rotors of 390 mm (15.3 in.) are coupled by Brembo® monoblock calipers with six pistons with pads of 143 cm2 (22.2 in2 ) while the rotors in steel are coupled by specific six piston Brembo® monoblock calipers.

The CCM rotors of 360 mm (14.1 in.) are coupled by Brembo® monoblock calipers of four pistons with pads of 77 cm2 (11.9 in2 ) while the rotors in steel are coupled by specific four piston Brembo® monoblock calipers.

The rear calipers are floating type with a single piston. The rear caliper features an electric actuator through which the parking brake is engaged/released.

Conditions of use on sand and mud.

CCM rotors are sensitive to contamination with water+sand (earth) mixtures. This particular extreme condition of use can compromise the rotor's performance in terms of efficiency loss and increase in pad wear.

Repeatedly braking for a long time in the aforementioned conditions, can abrade the rotor's surface, irreversibly compromising its functionality. This abrasion occurs particularly in the internal braking bands.

To reduce the likelihood of abrasion, it is necessary to reduce the rotor's exposure to extreme conditions by taking the following precautions:

In the event of lasting extreme conditions, the driver must drive carefully, trying to avoid sudden braking (high-speed braking with high pressure in the braking circuit, accelerate the onset of abrasion).

After using the car in the aforementioned extreme conditions, the rotors, calipers and pads must be washed with low-pressure water and dried carefully as soon as possible. After which, it is necessary to have the rotor's surfaces inspected by the dealership, to check for any abrasions.

For more information on CCM rotors. Refer to ROTOR, BRAKE, DIAGNOSIS AND TESTING .

NOTE:

If the rotor accidentally falls while being removed/refitted, its integrity could be compromised when in operation on the car. Perform the obligatory inspections on them before remounting them on the vehicle.
