Primary Hood Release Cable: Removal

NOTE:

Take note of the cable routing for correct installation.

  1. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery terminal.
  2. Remove the right  hood latch. Refer to LATCH, HOOD, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  3. Remove the left front wheelhouse splash shield. Refer to SHIELD, SPLASH, FRONT WHEELHOUSE, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  4. Remove the cowl cover panel. Refer to COVER, COWL PANEL, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  5. Remove the push fasteners (1a) and the cover (2a), that covers the left hood latch.

  6. Working on the left side, disconnect the wire harness connector (1a).
  7. Release the cable retainer (2a), then remove the cable end (2b).

  8. Remove the cowl side trim panel. Refer to PANEL, COWL TRIM, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  9. Release the cable retainer (1a), then remove the cable end (1b) from the hood release control (2).

  10. Unclip the hood release cables (1a) from the body (1b and 1c).
  11. Remove the nuts (2a).
  12. Lift the cable assembly and remove the cable grommet (3b) from the body.
  13. Remove the hood latch release cable from the vehicle.
