2.9L Removal And Installation: Removal

1. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable.
2. Remove the headlights. Refer to UNIT, FRONT LAMP, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
3. Remove the bolts (1a) and remove the headlamp mounting crossmember to front bumper reinforcement bracket (1b).

4. Disconnect the retainers (1a) and (1b) for the cable (1c) from the hood latch.
5. Release the cable (1c) from the clamps (2a), then move it out of the way.

6. Remove upper bolts (1a) and lower bolts (1b).
7. Remove the headlamp mounting crossmember.

INSTALLATION

1. Position the headlamp mounting crossmember (1a) and install the lower bolts (1b) and upper bolts (1c), then tighten them to the proper specification. Refer to TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS .

2. Engage the hood latch control cable (1a) retainers (1b).
3. Connect the retainers (2a) and (2b) for the cable (1a) to the hood latch.
4. Check that the hood opens and closes properly.

5. Position the headlamp mounting crossmember to front bumper reinforcement bracket install the bolts, then tighten them to the proper specification. Refer to TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS .
6. Install the headlights. Refer to UNIT, FRONT LAMP, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
7. Connect the negative battery cable.
