Description And Operation
DESCRIPTION
The vehicle can be equipped with power seats.
Two power seat switches on each seat adjust the seat in three different directions:
- front seat height adjustment;
- lengthwise seat movement;
- backrest angle adjustment.
A separate control adjusts the backrest lumbar setting.
The seat adjustment system is protected by dedicated fuses and controlled by a relay located in the rear Power Distribution Center (PDC).
The memory seat position function is implemented on power seats.
Furthermore, the seat back width can be adjusted (power bolster) on electrically operated front seats. The front seat heating is implemented in connection to electrically operated seats. A seat and steering wheel heating function is also implemented.
The Comfort Seat Wheel Module (CSWM) is installed on the front part of the driver's seat on the lower side. The module carries out the following functions:
- It manages the driver's seat movement buttons.
- It directly controls the driver's seat movement motors.
- It receives signals from the seat memory switches (1-2-3).
- It manages the driver's seat position memory and the position of the wing mirrors.
- It controls and manages heating of the driver's and passenger's seats and of the steering wheel.
For further information on the CSWM,
Refer to MODULE, COMFORT SEAT AND WHEEL (CSWM), DESCRIPTION AND OPERATION .
The Comfort Sear Rear Module (CSRM) is located under the passenger front seat. The rear hated seats are activated by pressing on the heated seat buttons located on the rear of the center console. When either button is a depressed, a LIN message is bussed to the BCM. The BCM then outputs power supplies for the rear seat heater. For removal and installation of the CSRM. Refer to MODULE, COMFORT SEAT AND WHEEL (CSWM), REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
The lumber position movements for both seats are managed directly by the switches (one per seat).
The backrest width adjustment for both seats is managed directly by a pair of switches (one per seat).
- Power Seat Switches
- Lumbar Switches
- Memory Seat Switches
- Power Seatback Switches
- Power Seat Switches
- Lumbar Switches
- Power Seatback Switches
The passenger's seat position is managed directly by the switch panel.
The switches receive power from a relay on the rear Power Distribution Center (PDC). The relay activated by the Body Control Module (BCM).
A fuse in the rear PDC protects the circuit for passenger seat movement.
OPERATION
Body Control Module
The BCM manages the power seat relays in the Power Distribution Center (PDC).
The BCM receives a direct power supply from the battery through the line protected by a maxi fuse in the PDC.
The relay switch is powered by a timed allowance managed by the BCM programming.
The BCM supplies power to the seat switches.
Power Seat Switches
Power is provided to the seat adjuster switch from the PDC.
The two seat switches located on each seat can be used to adjust the different positions of the seat, specifically:
- Front seat height adjustment
- Backrest adjustment
- Seat lengthwise movement
The two switches will directly supply to and control the seat motors.
Power Seat Motors
A separate switch and motor adjusts the backrest lumbar setting. Only the driver's seat can be equipped with an electrically adjustable lumbar support device. Lumbar adjustment allows the backrest support to be altered to improve comfort. power is provided to the lumbar switch from the PDC
Electric adjustment is only possible with the ignition key turned to ON and for approximately 30 minutes after turning it to STOP. The BCM will manage the activation of the specific seat adjustment relays located in the PDC and from here to the two switches for seats adjustment and lumbar adjustment. The two switches will directly supply the seat actuators according to the requests of the driver and passenger. After key OFF the switches are still supplied for about 30 minutes. The power supply will stop after 30 minutes. 30 minutes will be available again if one of the following events occurs:
- Door lock/unlock
- Door opening/locking
- Dome lamp being switch on
