Description And Operation: Exterior
This vehicle can be equipped with three types of mirrors:
- A basic level mirror with electronic adjustment options
- A mid level mirror with electronic adjustment options and power folding.
- A top level mirror with electronic adjustments, power folding, memory function and a Blind Spot Monitor (BSM) functionality.
The vehicle operator can adjust the orientation of the power mirrors on the driver and passenger side using a small joystick. This is placed on the front door panel on driver's side within the same switch bank that contains the power window switches.
The control joystick (1) is integrated in the DMCM (Driver Mirror Control Module) which is located within the switch bank itself.

The DMCM interfaces on the LIN with the Body Control Module (BCM). The DMCM directly controls the driver's side power mirrors directly and the passenger's side front power mirror indirectly.

The joystick on driver's side can be used to adjust the power mirror on passenger's side. The power window control module on passenger side integrates an electronic module which also manages the operation of the mirror on the corresponding vehicle side. It is called Passenger Mirror Control Module (PMCM). The DMCM integrates the joystick and informs the BCM to operate the mirror on passenger side over the LIN data bus network. The BCM then transfers the request (again via LIN) to the PMCM, which controls the power mirror motors to adjust the mirror. Activating the power lock system from outside the vehicle automatically folds the mirrors. The mirror return to the driving position when the ignition switch is transitions back to the ON position.
