Preliminary Inspection
- Verify customer complaints by operating system in all available modes. Carefully check the following for possible cause of problems and repair as necessary: damaged vacuum hoses, system components, obstructed in-car temperature sensor, damaged compressor drive belt, open fuses, damaged/misrouted wiring circuits, and damaged/disconnected connectors.
- If symptom(s) remain after preliminary inspection, connect New Generation Star Tester (007-00500), to Data Link Connector (DLC). Perform DATA LINK DIAGNOSTIC test.
- If scan tool displays CKT 914 and CKT 915 = ALL MODULE NO RESP/NOT EQUIP, go to appropriate
MODULE COMMUNICATIONS NETWORK article in ACCESSORIES & EQUIPMENT. Test and repair network fault before proceeding.
- If EATC module is not listed for communication concern, perform EATC self-diagnostics. See ENTERING SELF-DIAGNOSTICS under SELF-DIAGNOSTICS. If Powertrain Control Module (PCM) Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) is not listed for any communication fault, turn EATC off and perform PCM self-diagnostic test.
- If EATC or PCM DTCs retrieved are related to symptom, go to EATC DTC INDEX or PCM DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES
table. If no DTCs related to concern are retrieved, diagnose by symptom. Go to SYMPTOM INDEX .
- If EATC module cannot be accessed by NGS tester, go to TEST A: NO COMMUNICATION WITH EATC MODULE . If problem remains after repairs have been made, go to SYMPTOM INDEX .
