Audio System Symptom Troubleshooting - USB input sound is low or cannot be heard(With Normal Audio)
NOTE:
- Check the vehicle 12 volt battery condition first .
- Check the USB device's volume settings.
- Not all players and player functions work with the USB adapter. Please see the Owner's Manual for more information. Always test the customer's USB device in a known-good vehicle of the same year and trim (if possible). Technologies change and are updated frequently which may result that USB devices may work in newer vehicles, but not in order vehicles of the same model.
- Check the connectors for poor connections or loose terminals.
- 1. Self-diagnostic function check:
- 1. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode.
- 2. Do the Self-Diagnostic Function, and use the speaker check mode - Refer to: How to Troubleshoot the Audio SystemAudio System Self-Diagnostic Function .
Do all speakers make a sound?
YES
Go to step 2.
NO
Refer to Audio System Symptom Troubleshooting - No sound is heard from the speaker(s) (display is normal) (Without Navigation and Stereo Amplifier) , & Audio System Symptom Troubleshooting - No sound is heard from the speaker(s) (display is normal) (Without Navigation, With Stereo Amplifier) .
- 2. Problem verification:
- 1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.
- 2. On the customer's vehicle, connect the customer's USB device to the USB port located in the center console.
- 3. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode.
- 4. Turn on the audio unit, and press the AUX button to select the USB mode.
- 5. Check if the USB device can be operated with the audio unit (Folders or Files UP/DOWN, etc.).
Can you operate the USB device, and is the sound normal?
YES
Intermittent failure, the USB device is OK at this time.
NO: You can select USB device but sound is low or cannot be heard
The failure is duplicated, go to step 3.
NO: USB device does not work
Refer to Audio System Symptom Troubleshooting - USB device does not function(With Normal Audio) .
- 3. Determine possible failure area (USB device, others):
- 1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.
- 2. Connect the customer's USB device to a known-good vehicle (same year/trim) that is equipped with a USB adapter, and check the USB device operation.
Does the USB device work properly in the known-good vehicle?
YES: With HandsFreeLink
Go to step 4.
YES: Without HandsFreeLink
Go to step 5.
NO
USB device is faulty or not compatible.
- 4. Determine possible failure area (related unit, others):
- 1. Return to the customer's vehicle.
- 2. Disconnect the following connector.
HandsFreeLink control unit 32P connector - 3. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode.
- 4. Check if the USB audio can be played.
Is the USB audio sound normal?
YES
Replace the HandsFreeLink control unit .
NO
Go to step 5.
- 5. Shorted wire check (GA AUDIO lines) 1:
- 1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.
- 2. Disconnect the following connectors.
Audio unit connector C (14P) Multi-information display unit connector A (32P) - 3. Check for continuity between these test points and body ground individually.
Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode HandsFreeLink control unit 32P connector: disconnected Audio unit connector C (14P): disconnected Multi-information display unit connector A (32P): disconnected Connector Terminal Audio unit connector C (14P) - Refer to: Audio Unit Connector for Inputs and Outputs(With Display Audio)Audio Unit Connector for Inputs and Outputs(With Normal Audio) No. 1 No. 2 No. 7 No. 8 Is there continuity?
YES
There is a short to body ground in the wire(s) between the audio unit and the multi-information display unit. Replace the affected shielded harness.
NO
The GA AUDIO wires are not shorted to ground. Go to step 6.
- 6. Shorted wire check (GA AUDIO lines) 2:
- 1. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.
