Diagnostic Test

- CHECK STARTER RELAY AND THE PCM-1 CONNECTIONS
- Check for loose, damaged or corroded connections on the Starter Relay (R6-30A) on the front relay base or on the PCM-1.
Are there any loose or damaged connections?
Yes
- Repair the wiring connections as necessary.
- Perform the POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST .
No
- Go To 2
- Check for loose, damaged or corroded connections on the Starter Relay (R6-30A) on the front relay base or on the PCM-1.
- WIRING CHECK BETWEEN THE STARTER RELAY AND THE PCM-1 FOR AN OPEN/HIGH RESISTANCE
- Check the wiring for an open circuit or high resistance between the Starter Relay (R6-30A) on the front relay base and PIN 57 of the connector on the engine side of the PCM-1.
Is there a high resistance or open condition in the wiring?
Yes
- Repair the open circuit or high resistance in the wiring.
- Perform the POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST .
No
- Go To 3
- Check the wiring for an open circuit or high resistance between the Starter Relay (R6-30A) on the front relay base and PIN 57 of the connector on the engine side of the PCM-1.
- WIRING CHECK BETWEEN THE STARTER RELAY AND THE PCM-1 FOR A SHORT CIRCUIT
- Check for a short circuit in the wiring between the Starter Relay (R6-30A) on the front relay base and PIN 57 of the connector on the engine side of the PCM-1.
Is there a short circuit in the wiring?
Yes
- Repair the short circuit in the wiring.
No
- Go To 4
- Perform the POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST .
- Check for a short circuit in the wiring between the Starter Relay (R6-30A) on the front relay base and PIN 57 of the connector on the engine side of the PCM-1.
- CHECK PCM-1 STARTER RELAY OPERATION
- Check that the Starter Relay (R6-30A) on the front relay base is working properly.
Is the Starter Relay operating properly?
Yes
- Go To 5
No
- Replace the Starter Relay (R6-30A) on the front relay base.
- Perform the POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST .
- Check that the Starter Relay (R6-30A) on the front relay base is working properly.
- CHECK USING SCAN TOOL
- Connect the scan tool check that the Body Computer starting relay is operating correctly.
Is the operation of the starting relay correct?
Yes
- Replace the Body Computer.
- Perform the POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST .
No
- Replace the starting relay.
- Perform the POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST .
- Connect the scan tool check that the Body Computer starting relay is operating correctly.
